So yesterday was all right work-wise. And I did basement to 45 and down again possibly the fastest I've ever done it. I had to pace in circles briefly on floor 27 and then again on floor 36 or so, but even with the pausing I got up, stretched, got down to 29, grabbed my stuff (I always leave something on my office's floor just to make sure that I climb at least that far), kept going down, and made it out-

Blithering about my stair climbing playlist here. ) I reached the rooftop access door on floor 45 in (Halo Theme + Enter Sandman + about a minute of Tarzan Boy). Given that my usual pace is ten floors in three minutes... I'm good with that.

As far as other exercise goes, my abs hurt. Big surprise, not like I've been doing situps before this. I'll live. Today's a pushup day and tomorrow is back to the situps and planks. If I'm lucky I'll be able to go to the grocery store after the pushups and not fall over or drop things in the process.

On another front, I finished Survival City yesterday. I think that's 3 of 52. Grabbed the next book of this year's 52 off my shelves instead of going out to buy or borrow a new one: The Great Adventure: How The Mounties Conquered The West. I figure that's as far as it's possible to get from atomic paranoia, so I should be good for a while.

Anybody here at all familiar with using a medicine ball as part of an abdominal workout? I'm seeing stuff about using one in a pass-from-hand-to-hand exercise for the obliques, and it looks like it might be worthwhile because I hate just doing crunches, but I'd like to know if it's at all effective. Also how heavy the thing ought to be, because the ones at Modell's are expensive. If we're talking a weight in the eight pound vicinity I'm just going to buy a gallon of water and use that. I'm told a basketball filled with sand weighs in at about ten pounds, so if I can get an old one from someone who'd otherwise throw theirs out I'll just go with that instead.

Okay, today's workout didn't go so good. 45, 55, 35, 30... 15. *sigh* I don't think it was a failure of willpower this time, though. I only did the last 15 because of willpower- I was thisclose to giving up after the last 30. I went about the last set with the intention of doing as many as I could as quickly as I could before something gave out. I think I was planning on 20, but at 14 my arms started shaking and on 15 I knew I wasn't going to be able to get another one in.

Will repeat the workout on Thursday, I think.
