So yesterday was all right work-wise. And I did basement to 45 and down again possibly the fastest I've ever done it. I had to pace in circles briefly on floor 27 and then again on floor 36 or so, but even with the pausing I got up, stretched, got down to 29, grabbed my stuff (I always leave something on my office's floor just to make sure that I climb at least that far), kept going down, and made it out-

Quick digression: I don't always use a stopwatch. I have a set playlist named Stairs that I use for these workouts and I tend to measure time in terms of which songs I hear at which points in time. The playlist songs are:

Halo Theme - Mjollnir Mix, 4:11
Heart of Courage by Two Steps From Hell*, 1:57
I'll Make A Man Out Of You from the Mulan soundtrack, 3:22
Suicide Mission from the Mass Effect 2 soundtrack, 4:45
Tarzan Boy by Baltimora, 3:52
Enter Sandman by Metallica, 5:31
Protectors of the Earth by Two Steps From Hell, 2:49

*Two Steps From Hell is a pair of composers who mostly do movie and video game trailer music. Heart Of Courage is the music that was used for the Mass Effect 2 trailer. (And for the fan version starring a female Commander Shepard.)

I always start the climb with the Halo music and then set the rest on shuffle. When I first got to the point of being able to do the whole set of basement to 45, I usually made it back down to the basement at about the same time that the final song ended. Yesterday I not only made it up and down again in less time than that, but the final song finished after I had left the building, about at the time I reached the theater playing Memphis. And only part of that was because I've gotten to the point of coming down the stairs quickly. I reached the rooftop access door on floor 45 in (Halo Theme + Enter Sandman + about a minute of Tarzan Boy). Given that my usual pace is ten floors in three minutes... I'm good with that.

As far as other exercise goes, my abs hurt. Big surprise, not like I've been doing situps before this. I'll live. Today's a pushup day and tomorrow is back to the situps and planks. If I'm lucky I'll be able to go to the grocery store after the pushups and not fall over or drop things in the process.

On another front, I finished Survival City yesterday. I think that's 3 of 52. Grabbed the next book of this year's 52 off my shelves instead of going out to buy or borrow a new one: The Great Adventure: How The Mounties Conquered The West. I figure that's as far as it's possible to get from atomic paranoia, so I should be good for a while.
