So I get up at six and am out of the house by 6:30 to be on a bus that will get me to the office by 7:30 guaranteed. Okay, fine, I consider this mildly gross o'clock, but I can do this, I'm gonna sit back on the bus and listen to Skullcrusher Mountain and The Device Has Been-

DUDE. You do not get to have a tech support problem at 6:55 AM when I've got to be in the office by 7:30! What the hell, why are you even IN the office this early??

... turns out the guy's default printer was set to Microsoft XPS File and he couldn't figure out how to set the default to an actual physical printer. BUT STILL.

This wasn't the phone, exactly. I carry a blackberry; this was an email. After one too many incidents I can no longer tell whether 'when you get in' emails mean 'no, really, it's not an emergency' or 'if you don't answer this right now I am going STRAIGHT to the upper management to complain that you ignored me', so I treat them all as the latter category.

And you get it set like that because the new IT admin changed the print server and wrote a script to move everyone over to the new server, but forgot to put in a line saying 'use this printer as the default printer', so Windows automatically chose the least helpful option for everybody's default.

Since I work nontraditional hours, I have a tendency to be overprotective of when I am /not/ working, and people doing that to me would make me want to invest in a dalek, like mephron suggested.
