I think it's supposed to somehow illustrate what level of influence someone probably has on the sorts of things that you think about/are aware of... with names that are a) larger, and b) closer to you being more signifigant. I think it's based somehow on friends in common and possibly comments made back and forth, but I'm honestly not sure. However, that's what I remember of what it said. I think you should also be able to click on people's names and get to either their livejournal or their mindmap.
