I do not think I can say this enough: I did not need to know.

The answer I got wasn't as bad as it could have been. But that doesn't change the fact that I still didn't need to know, especially when I was trying to drive in slush and find a bleedin' legal alternate-side-of-the-street parking space. DAMN YOU, BRAIN, I NEEDED THOSE NEURONS.

I've already told two people about the specifics of the idea, and they agree that it's plausible. one of them said I could probably get a pretty good fanfic out of it. However, I'm not particularly interested in writing that sort of thing just now. Maybe later, if I feel like punishing my brain for abusing the trust I place in it.

Given that I don't normally drink, I don't think that would be a very good idea. My liver would join up with my brain in protest and inflict worse on me, I think.

In the end, I suspect any brain-altering measures taken would prove counter productive. They might remove the memories or something, but it would ultimately be like what Pterry said about deaf composers. Not being able to hear doesn't free them from hearing the music. It just means they no longer hear the distractions.
