Dunno what to do about Carol Ferris. Considering tapping Thomas Kalmuka for the Ron Weasley slot despite Kalmuka not actually being a Lantern. John Stewart fairly easy to see as a pupil; Kyle Raynor takes the Colin Creevey slot; Guy Gardner, well, possibly Ernie Macmillan as he's a bit on the annoying side? Dunno.

I will say this. Dumbledore, as the mentor, must be Oan. If not Oan, then another of the offshoots. Remember, the race which spawned the gaurdians branched off in dozens of directions eons ago.

If you really want to get fancy, recall that the Gaurdians have mates. I forget their names, but they're all women. Who says Ganthetadore(?) has to be male?

The meteorite was the Starheart, created by the Oans--their powers were once both psionic and mystic in nature, but they decided long ago to purge themselves of the chaos inherent in the magic side, and lumped it all into a chunk of green metal and tried to lock it away in the core of a sun. It got out, fell in ancient China, and prophecied that it would burn three times--once to bring death, once to bring life, once to bring power. Scott got the last bit; his lantern and ring are made of that meteor.

Absolutely! I've discussed this before with other friends, actually, when I was more heavily involved in Potter fandom:

- Horatio Hornblower is a wizard who escaped into Muggle society, and that's why his name is so weird;
- after graduation, HP wanders over to NYC and chats with Spider-man mid-air, and also gets trained by Dr. Strange;
- etc.

I know I can't crossbreed it to Ayn Rand's fictional universes. The fundamental postulates are too different. Otherwise, though, not so hard. Although I've never really tried to do a cross between HP and LOTR; too many horrible fics have resulted from that. I'm allergic now.

She's basically the spiritual godmother of all Libertarians and their ilk everywhere. Founded the Objectivist school of philosophy. Very much into capitalism, free market foo, etc. Wrote Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, Anthem, things like that. However, since her fiction is primarily used to put forward her philosophy, one of the absolute core tenets of her universe is that the supernatural, mystic, divine, and anything else related does not exist. Unless something can be objectively and logically proven to truly exist, it isn't worth considering.

This may be a significant chunk of why she died of lung cancer, because she spent a lot of her life arguing that the studies linking cigarettes to lung cancer were faulty, slanted against the companies that made tobacco, and otherwise Not Real Proof.

I'm working from an admittedly limited direct knowledge of the books, only having read OOtP (and that, more than a year ago,) but why not have Carol Ferris take the place of one of the girls who broke the oath not to tell anybody about Dumbledore's Army?

Arisia would have to be either Cho Chang or Ginny Weasley - she started out a child whose hero worship of Hal caused her to have her ring artificially age her to adulthood, but eventually came to realise that her feelings for him were just the infatuation of a girl for an older man.

And Katma Tui would make an interesting Hermione-analogue, what with her being the one chosen to take Sinestro's place in the Corps when he was cast down.
