Tell me I didn't just see that.
Apr. 13th, 2004 10:20 pmFrom Carcross Community School's pages about history in the Yukon... I saw this page originally when I was researching the stuff for The Spanish Lady. I cannot BELIEVE I did not see this the first time...
Two parties of Mounties traveled over the Chilkoot to the Klondike in 1897: Inspector W.H. Scarth was in charge of 19 replacements for the original detachment, while Inspector Frank Harper, arriving October 1897, brought 20 additional reinforcements. The newly promoted Superintendent Constantine did not exactly welcome Harper's party with open arms. They arrived empty-handed to a detachment preparing for another winter of food shortages. Constantine claimed that even the four dogs they brought in were "small, ill-conditioned and of very little use." Nonetheless, Constantine managed.
... If he weren't a real person... I mean... his name was Charles, he was born in 1846, but... gah!

NO. You are NOT allowed to turn John Constantine, or any of his relatives, into Mounties.
NO.
But I DIDN'T!
Date: 2004-04-15 07:31 am (UTC)...
Okay, not entirely accurate. It's more like 'turning a Mountie into one of John Constantine's relatives' rather than the other way around.
I may have to look up Charles' tenure and history. I seem to remember Sam Steele was forced out of being Superintendent by corrupt people who wanted someone more to their liking in the post. I just don't remember when.
Charles CONSTANTINE

Re: Charles CONSTANTINE
Date: 2004-07-04 05:42 am (UTC)John is about as far from a superintendent of the Northwest Mounted Police as it's possible to get; he's a Bad Bad Man, he does magic, he fools with demons, he smokes like a chimney, drinks like a fish, has a mouth like a sewer, etc.
Charles Constantine- well, I don't know much about him, except that I located a web page with his basic biography on it once. Son of Isaac Constantine (I think). Came to Canada from England, took over the Northwest Mounted from the prior superintendent, and so on and so forth.
Is that the Charles Constantine you're related to?
