Number one: I realise this is a concept sketch and probably not the most accurate depiction of the actual device, but I have to say that if I were shown the picture at http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/health/newsid_1891000/1891949.stm and told by my doctor that they wanted to use that thing on me, I would probably opt for l-dopa treatment instead, lonnnnng past the point where it ceased to work.

Number two: It looks like cadhla is still feeling unwell today. Why not stop by Temple Ov Thee Lemur's Instant Monkeys Online page and send her an instant monkey? They're really cute.

It's not the appearance that gets me. It's the part where I'm fully aware of the fact that I've got big pokey things sticking into my brain. Kind of like the way I'm more than happy to give blood every 56 days just so long as they don't make me think about the sight of the needle poking out of my arm for seven minutes straight. Little cover of gauze so it just looks like a very big lump with a hose attached? Fine, kewl, whatever. Actual thinking about the needle being half in, half out? Ghaaaah. Same deal, only with electrodes and my head.
