Finished the tote. Took some pictures. Haven't tested it out with a load or walking any kind of significant distance yet. Haven't put it through the wash, either, although I did iron it to some degree. Wound up with one much wider than I had intended; I was trying to do similar dimensions to a standard grocery store bag, but I was working from an adjusted pattern for a different kind of tote, and I mixed up which of the axes was going to be the one that needed a bit of reduction vs. which one needed a bit of expanding. End result, if the widest side is facing me, the X axis is about a hand's breadth longer than the X axis of a Whole Foods brown paper bag.

Behind the cut are multiple photos of an off-white canvas tote bag with blue marbled edging around the opening. All visible stitches are in black because I didn't have the sense to buy upholstery thread and used basic all-purpose. My apologies to the text reader users for not doing much detail in the alt-text. )

There's an insert of two pieces of the Stiff Stuff interfacing sewn into a sleeve of the same canvas and pushed against the bottom, but the photograph really isn't much to look at.

I'll probably wind up buying more canvas and Stiff Stuff and doing this again if the bag holds up okay on a trip through the washing machine, but if I do this again I'm buying denim needles first (I only had one) and upholstery thread. And I may see about making one of these for myself out of less heavy duty fabric. With a zipper.
