Six thirtyish AM. I'm at Church and Thomas with a bunch of riders, waiting for the Tour to start. The starting gun goes off at eight AM. I might just have a prayer of moving before nine this time.

rest stop 1: fdr drive

At first rest stop. Bottlenecks mostly behind us. First time I have had to stop ]nd use the john during a ride.

God, I love bridges.

rest stop 2- astoria park

Am between the Triboro and Hell Gate bridges, on line to get something to eat. Made it over the Queensboro without incident, though I did stop briefly on the initial approach.

Probably not gonna use rest stops 3 or 4.

You should see some of the helmet decorations.

Am at Fort Wadsworth Park in Staten Island, just north of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. I crossed that sucker in the saddle, without stopping or getting off to walk. Lots of praying, but no walking.

Will see if I can find a massage at this festival before heading for the ferry.
