Well, 15 minutes until Grandpa's scheduled for surgery. We'll see how it goes.

Totally unrelated: last night I got to sit down and watch Firefly for the first time. The two hour pilot episode on the DVD, anyway. Will probably watch some more tonight so I can give the DVD back without angsting too much over late fees.

Slight problem: my recent adventures in graphics cards have resulted in me playing Sims 2 again. And you can do an awful lot of tweaking a character's face in Sims 2's "Body Shop" utility, plus there are lots of downloads out there for clothing. Things like, for example, long brown coats and whacked-out Hawaiian shirts. And Sims 2's "Home Crafter" utility lets you do up tiles for the floor and the walls to match whatever texture or appearance you like.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to build an entire "Serenity" shaped building, but the characters are another story entirely. Hm.

Grandpa's out of surgery. It went as the doctors hoped. They'll be monitoring his heart for a while, but by the look of it, all is as good an outcome as medical science could hope for.

Dear Voices In My Head:

Next time you fixate on a knitting project could you PLEASE at least wait until I have seen the item in question? Huh? Just because you are aware of the existence of the Jayne hat does not mean I know what the damned thing looks like!

...though it does mean I looked it up on Google and got a pattern of sorts and found a yarn store in Soho and bought the stuff necessary.

On a completely unrelated note, at least one of my cats can growl. It's kinda freaky.
