Are you right-handed or left-handed?

Right-handed. My nephew's lefty-to-ambidextrous (he mostly uses his left hand to write and his right hand for other things) but that's as close as it gets.

How did you get into long-distance cycling?

Oh, gosh. Um. I'm not sure exactly. I think I probably got the idea from ... well, I bought Richards' Ultimate Bicycle Book when I was in college, and it kind of planted the idea of using the bike to go somewhere other than just pootling about town in areas the subways didn't go. At some point well after college I saw an ad for the Five Boro Tour- I think- and thought 'you know, that sounds like... wait, how long of a ride is that?', and started working my way up to the idea. It's taken off ever since.
