I... don't know what's going on with that thing. It's disturbing, frankly. I mean, it seems to be a perfectly reasonable creature, whatever its species is, but it looks like an experiment gone wrong. And the things it does with those tentacles-
Look. I know it's probably a very nice creature once you get to know it, but it gives me the willies.
I haven't really interacted with the human much, I'm afraid. It's a pity, because I would like very much to get a good look at some of those devices he carries. They're almost as far from Forerunner tech as it's possible to get while still being made by humans... beyond that, though, he seems interesting enough. I know he tries to look after his people, and that he has a sense of responsibility. I think, if we were in my galaxy, the Sangheili would approve of him.
He's a really nice guy! I'm glad he wound up getting to a point where he didn't always seem like there was sadness behind his words any more. His world's lucky to have him, and his people are really lucky that he's on their side. I wish we had more people like him in the Wasteland- not even necessarily in the Brotherhood, just in the Capital Wastes, you know? I'm gonna miss him if he stops coming to the Bar or if I have trouble with the door.
A woman after mein own heart, und not chust ze vun I haf in ze refrigerator for ze next time Herr Soldier catches vun of his own rockets to ze chest. Practical und skilled und properly ruthless, und not afraid to go after whatever she wants, eizer- vot isn't to be liked, hmm?
Twilight Sparkle is a fascinating little creature. It isn't often that I meet someone of a non-human persuasion who's up for good conversation, or for good debate. Even when it's something as inconsequential as a card game, she takes pride in learning it and learning it well. It's a rare attitude, and one that I find admirable.
Lawmen who really mean it- who take their jobs seriously, and don't just throw them around like a police baton- they're a good thing, and I know he's one of them. He's a little like William, though, in that I feel really bad whenever something comes up about home or the Wasteland and it catches him flat-footed. I feel like I shouldn't be talking about these things to him when they're so much more brutal or nasty than his everyday work, because I know he's doing the best he can at a really hard job and he doesn't need stuff like that to come along and make it sound like I'm trying to diminish that. I'm probably overthinking it, but that's how it feels about two seconds after I've said something and he's started blinking, or whistled in shock- anyway, he seems like a good person with a good temperament and I hope his work doesn't get ahead of him too much.
There is no way in Zandru's frozen hells that I could do that woman's job and stay within radio contact range of sanity. I've got enough to handle as it is, thank you very much. The idea of having to run an entire city with all the attendant problems inherent in the Sprite condition, and have a family, and deal with the changes coming to the system as the inevitable result of awareness of humans and their nature slowly beginning to spread? Brrr. She's way out ahead of me on that front, that's for sure.
No offense t'Ms. Vance or nothin', but goddamn it's good there's someone around who understands where I'm comin' from. Even if he is a Navy asshole. I ain't gon' give him shit over that, we all make stupid decisions when we're young. I got Resistance folk around me who're startin' to git the idea, but it just ain't the same. Dunno if it'll ever be. The man knows his work and his discipline and I got to give him serious fuckin' props for that.

Date: 2012-01-06 04:39 pm (UTC)How about Ben Grimm and Ellen? I guess it'd have to be Ultimate Ben Grimm as the 616 hasn't spent much time with her.
And for a bonus question, Ult. Ben and Fawkes.
