Is this Judd Winick's pet storm, or is it named after the kid on South Park?

Hmm... there's a whole flock of sparrows perched in the tree just outside my window, and all of them are grooming. They don't normally do this unless the weather's about to get ugly. I might have some rain tonight. Unrelated to Kyle, he's 600 miles away from Bermuda let alone here, but still.

Just sayin'.

Just to be accurate, it would really be Ron Marz' pet storm, as he created Kyle Rayner, but Judd has done better work with him.

LOL. The South Park Storm. I love hearing these snippets. We generally don't get much in the way of weather out here - though the fires are certainly a big part of our world right now. So how did you learn about birds and storms? Is that like when all the cows lie down, it's going to rain?

Something like that, yes. Birds do have a tendency to roost before a storm; you won't see a whole lot of flocks of crows or something flying around in the hours before a thunderstorm shows up. My house has a forest on the other side of the property line, and I've noticed that this particular bit of weather wisdom seems to hold true. The woods get very, very noisy before a storm, because all the birds are hunkering down and hiding from the change in air pressure.

Thanks for the info. I will watch little birds more closely now. wow. what a great place to live! How lucky you are! Someday, after school and making some money, thats exactly what I dream of - a house in the woods, or adjacent to a national forest (all the benefits of property wihtout having to own a big piece). Do my healing work, travel doing medical relief work, and do art all around and in between.

I also enjoy your martial arts posts. I used to do them and thought I would get fairly involved before some injuries put me out of commission. Hopefully someday I will do them again. Have you done a lot of different types over the years, or is this your first forray?

First time, really, unless you count what I now call 'Piggy-Fu' - that is, being a third grader with a thing for the Muppet Show and a tendency to resolve problems with classmates by means of imitating Miss Piggy rather than talking things out... I know a bunch about them, but that's from reading books, and to say that makes me anything at all would be like me saying I'm a doctor because I used to score really well at Life and Death (the video game where you performed appendectomies). I'm just a fan, so far.

Although I may be a fan testing for yellow belt tonight. Either that or next Thursday. Wish me luck.
