Aug. 17th, 2011 08:26 amShula's home from the vet and okay. They cleaned his teeth yesterday, and had to pull one. Also did a deep cleaning on his ears as there was a lot of yuk in there. Overall he was in good health otherwise. Aftercare involves soft food for a week (not a problem, he eats canned anyway) and pain meds today, given by oral drop syringe. And of course giving him plenty of attention and fuzzing.
The doctor said to offer him a little food after 8 PM yesterday. Maybe some earlier if he looked like he was looking for it. When I put out a bit of food for him and half a can for Kamella at six, he devoured both allotments. I'm going to have to feed Kamella separately for a while, I think; she doesn't want to go near him at the moment and I don't want her to go hungry. I'll buy her some treats on the way home. She eats those out of a playbox- she has to thread her paw into a hole and bat the food out to get at it, and he's too lazy to be bothered with the technique. I'll be giving her extra attention tonight too, to make sure she doesn't feel left out or jealous.
But they're both okay, which is the important thing.

Date: 2011-08-17 12:35 pm (UTC)My sister is looking in to getting a new kitty, now that she is going to be in an apartment, rather than a rented room. Not having to share a house with a mess of other people is a bonus. She's looking to get a kitty between 4-8 years old. Old enough that most'd pass over such an adoption, but not old enough to possibly need more vet care than she can afford. Any suggestions on where she should/could look to adopt a cat?
