It's been a while since I wrote anything other than RP-related stuff, but...

If I made Cinderella, the audience would immediately be looking for a body in the coach. —Alfred Hitchcock

When I write a story, what do readers immediately look for?

A protagonist with a well-calibrated bullshit detector, who is basically good at heart but willing to launch the heads of those who redline the detector or otherwise push his buttons.

Your research reads as flawless and yet you don't go into too much detail. Even the weird science you write is believable. You're like the Ben Grimm to Reed Richards, i.e. you know what all the technical stuff means and are able to translate it into language the average person can understand.

You also think about how events in canon would effect the philosophies and outlook of your pups.

The actual science will be ~real~. The mad science will be believable and rooted in real science.
