Mar. 7th, 2011 07:51 amOkay, so, slight snag in the whole 'meet Army physical fitness standards by my next birthday' thing: colossal pain in my left heel. I've had a low level dull pain there for years now and basically just stretched or otherwise taken preventative measures for it, but I ran on Saturday and Sunday (Sunday with a heel cushion insert) and woke up this morning with serious limp-inducing pain levels. It's feeling better now, but I'm going to need to take this to a doctor to have a look.
It's only a slight snag, though. Even if I get told not to run on it any more, which is doubtful in any case, I can still go for the 6.5 miles on the bicycle as my aerobic portion of the testing instead.
... yes, I know it's a bit ridiculous to be going over technicalities like this considering that I'm not actually joining or working for the service, but so what.
ETA: Bike distance is apparently supposed to be 6.2, aka ten kilometers, for the test. Time for the age group I'm testing for is supposed to be 26:30 or better for a female, 25:30 for a male. So that's 6.2 miles at an average of 14.6 MPH the whole time, and in one gear only, according to the standards. My usual cruising speed is around 12 MPH on my commuter bike, so I can work up to this, I think.

Not the one that happened just before I moved into the apartment in Westwood - that was a tendon rupture and I devoutly hope you do not have that.
