Sep. 28th, 2010 01:15 pmAaaand now VPI says the claim is temporarily denied again because they don't have Shula's complete medical records for his entire life. They said if I submit his complete records as far back as possible with a note saying that there are no medical records extant for him before that, they'll process the claim. I've called the vet and asked them to fax the records and said note. I'm hoping I have the information right because otherwise I'm just getting rapidly more and more frustrated.
I will pay people back. If the insurance company doesn't accept this claim for whatever reason I'm just going to have to do it more slowly. I'm sorry.
(Yes, I know that this is far from the worst thing that could have happened, and yes, I know that if this is as bad as it gets I'm a lucky person and he's a lucky cat, and yes, I know I'm whining about first world problems... but it's my cat, and I love him, and I got the insurance because I wanted to do right by him, and I just don't have veterinary records for him before this year. I'm beginning to feel a bit of an idiot, really.)

Date: 2010-09-28 05:37 pm (UTC)As long as I don't get denied three times. I don't have a rooster to do the crowing.
I did ask if failing to produce enough records would get Shula's insurance canceled and cited "I'm used to the evil of human health insurance companies" as my reason. They said no, he wouldn't get canceled, the claim would just stay denied, but I'm not sure they understood that I'm worrying they'll decide that the cat not having medical records for the first five or six years of his life makes him an Unsuitable Risk and either cancel his policy or raise his rates.
But at this point there is not much to do but wait and see, and start lining up resources to pay people back whether or not VPI comes through.

Yeah, that's how low they dug. That prompted a couple of pretty hostile phone calls. And eventually it got paid in full, but...they try to wear you down. Insurance companies don't want to pay out. That's not how they make money. >:(
I hope it all works out, and I hope you hear great news on the job front!
