The article itself is about a totally legitimate technological development and a really excellent idea in the field of small device power generation. I've seen larger scale, cruder variations on the same technique in place for disaster power generation, but... well.

Vibration packs aim to replace batteries for gadgets

Can someone else please make the inevitable joke about vibration, batteries, and small gadgets? There's too many to choose from right now.

Around Christmas I heard of a company based in the midwest that is doing something similar. This little gadget can be used to recharge ipods, cellphones, and other similar devices. And better, it's actually available to buy now.
