Hm. Apparently, United Airlines thinks it's okay to be jerks to disabled people.

Look, I realize airline travel these days is subject to all kinds of attempts to squeeze every last dollar out of every possible facet of the journey, but it's one thing to charge folks an I Looked At Your Baggage fee and quite another to be complete and total jerks to someone who's having genuine physical difficulties and pain. I'm rather glad I honestly can't remember the last time I flew with them.

The thing that tipped it for me was the 'not sorry'. How could anyone say that?? I mean, most people would at least give an insincere apology because saying 'we're not sorry no one helped you' is just beyoned the realm of logic.

Sheesh.

I hope she gets some kind of decent response from United, although I'm beginning ot think airlines are all manned by souless zombies, or something.

Alas, this is part of an ongoing trend with United, whose customer service - or rather, customer disservice - has been appalling the last several years and steadily getting worse! Now don't get me wrong, I have had a couple of gate agents who work for United who have been absolute lifesavers, but they've had to step in where the company, its policies, and its absolutely horrific IT have dropped the ball.

That being said, what this poor woman experienced was absolutely so far beyond anything right or decent that I wish she would sue the damned airline and really make them pay! It's not just the lack of help, it's the lack of common human decency on the part of every United employee she dealt with! I'm just stunned, and I don't blame her for being horribly upset! :( My husband has to write a complaint letter to United anyway over HIS latest trip (where he had a confirmed business class seat paid for with upgrade miles, then they cancelled his flight, put him on a different one, and refused him an upgrade even though there were first class seats empty), so I'm going to tell him to put in a copy of this woman's letter as well as an illustration of their incredible lack of ability and compassion. :(

I have a couple letters from bad experiences with United too if he wants those.

I expect United will actually do right this time because it trended on Twitter, and that means the media probably got ahold of it too.
