Is... is there a reason why a mattress by Martha Stewart or Laura Ashley should be in any way more appealing than another? I mean, they're mattresses. They're not supposed to look pretty. They're supposed to be covered. Unless they come with sheets or a free book there's no real point to "o hai, I has a mattress by a DESIGNER!", is there?

Mattresses are ridiculous. Tom and I gave up on traditional ones and bought 100% ikea and we love it.

If you decide against traditional ones, I have to tell you that the ikea alternative is lighter, thinner, and has no box spring if you go with the slat system. It's firmer than my previous mattress set, but I prefer it. Also: we went with a latex one with no springs or anything, which was awesome. :)

Yes! That is what we have. It's awesome. Boxsprings are so silly.

Mattress cost far too much, I ended up buying a floor model in the end since everything else just cost far too much. Honestly I tried some of the fancier ones and I think the only difference is the quality of the stuffing and such, which isn't that big of a deal.
