Got to the bus stop on time, though, which is a bit more than I expected given the flooding of the storm drains and the general attitude of Hoboken as a city waiting for its Baron Yü. Got to work on time, too, and noticed that there were some drainage issues along my route from the Port Authority to the office as well. March came in like a lion and is going out like a lamb only if the lamb in question was born downwind from the Hanford Site and thus belonged in a Gamma World supplement.

That being said, it's not all bad. I appreciate rain, I really do. I wish it were falling in the NY metro area's reservoirs rather than on the city itself, but I still appreciate it. I also appreciate that I got my new bed yesterday and not today, because carrying all the pieces of a full-sized Ikea platform bed down from a sixth-floor apartment, out to the car parked around the corner, then halfway down the block and up to my fourth floor apartment is not really something I would want to do in this weather. As it stands I am pleased to report that I have stiffness in my biceps and triceps, my upper forearms, my quadriceps, and my calves and delts, but nowhere else that I can discern. So given that I only had help moving that stuff on the leg of the journey that involved carrying it down six floors and out to the car, it could be ever so much worse. When I get the mattress I think I have earned the right to pay someone else to get it into the apartment for me.

.... however, I now seem to have started on some form of post-nasal-drip-inspired cough. Lovely, just bloody lovely. Well, I will stay warm tonight and keep out of the wet.

Oh, and I will probably not be ordering from Johnny Rockets again for a while. Last night's bed-moving relied on me renting a Zipcar to haul the parts, then returning the car. I got home from returning the car to its original site and was too worn to want to microwave leftovers, so I ordered food from a place that seemed just plain ordinary. Johnny Rockets burgers are tasty but they give the impression of being composed of pure fat that has been rolled in a bit of meat to give it some structure. Fair warning. The fries are okay, but they're just... they're kinda plain. Maybe their cheese fry version or their gravy fry version or their 'we'll never in a million years admit that poutine is better' gravy over cheese version is more impressive, I don't know. Not about to try, given the terrifying tasty of the burger.

One last thing inna meantime: the traffic getting the bed home was horrible, since I had to make an attempt on the Holland Tunnel at rush hour. You know you have been sitting in traffic too long when the song Summertime comes on and Kid Rock's sampling of Sweet Home Alabama makes you realize that it's the same damn riff as Werewolves of London. Or close enough that a talented filker or mashup artist could make it work. And if that is not a sign you have been sitting in traffic too long, then hearing the Donna Summer version of Macarthur Park and thinking 'wouldn't it be funny to have my Fallout 3 character accidentally discover the lone surviving recording of this and decide after listening that there are some things about the past best left buried'? That would be the clincher.

Anyway, that's it at the moment. Back to woik.
