Everyone in this country who wants to file a civil lawsuit for reasons that do not actively involve serious injury, serious physical or mental illness, or death on someone's part should have to sit through a two-week jury trial first. As a member of the jury. Just to make sure they're bloody serious about the whole sodding mess.

In some countries, doesn't the loser of a civil suit pay for the winner's legal fees regardless of the outcome? That might discourage nuisance lawsuits, a bit.

Paying in money is too easy. Paying in time is another matter altogether. If you want to bring a lawsuit for what you perceive as your own benefit you should have to be willing to pay out the same amount of time for someone else.

No, from what I understand I'm good to talk about the whole sorry affair once it's over, so, yes I will.

I was hoping you were on a murder trial or something. Because a civil case that runs this long...well, you just said it.

I'd've preferred a murder trial, frankly. I'm kind of envying my grandmother at this point; she once got seated for a jury and had to sit through a murder trial that involved phrases like 'threw the head up the capitol steps'.

From what my father told me, apparently the gentleman in question drove a considerable distance with the head in his car and the body somewhere else entirely in order to make his pitch, so to speak. I don't currently have more details than that save to say that the head had belonged to his wife at the time that he took it.

No mention of whether he screamed about how there could be only one.

I think EVERYONE should sit on a multi-week jury trial. I'm kind of miffed I haven't had the opportunity, having sat somewhat in every other chair except that and judge.
