Nov. 19th, 2009 11:22 amSome traditions ought to be upheld. When a gift-giving occasion arises, and young children are involved, the aunt or uncle who lives far away ought to give the noisy, large gift; that is simply How Things Are Done.
My sister asked that my parents and I get her children musical instruments. She suggested two.
I sort of had to choose this one.

Date: 2009-11-19 04:58 pm (UTC)1) TRADITION.
2) 4 year old fingers can't really deal with a guitar. 4yo+Guitar = frustration = broken guitar = silence, which as we know from take back the night, = DEATH. Why would you give your niece death?
3) 4 year olds LOVE banging on shit, and a 4yo banging on drums will become a 5 year old playing drums, and so on, until you've got a madly-sought-after-chick-drummer in college, the thought of which makes me cry for my lost youth.
4) TRADITION.
