Time spent parked in the bathroom in the middle of the night actively trying to convince your body that it is quite done dumping core and it does not need to evacuate from both ends of the digestive tract, or staring at the moonlit tile on the bathroom floor and not thinking at all because cognition requires effort and you're trying to marshal the effort to get up and go back to bed, should not count against your allocation of time for the night. However long it takes, it should exist in a pocket of the time stream like a dream or a visit to Narnia, and you should get your full allotment of sleep by the time you wake up rather than allotment minus the time in the bathroom.

... in other news, I'm not at work today.

I know. I got up this morning, and I showered, because the shower was hot and hotness was good, and I stared at the sink for a while, and I tried to iron my pants, and I got about three quarters of the way through that task before the Common Sense Neuron started firing. It's the one that says If you really have to debate this hard whether or not you should go into the office, then you shouldn't go into the office.

It didn't win until I came out of the bathroom and sat down at my computer chair because I needed to sit down and just breathe for a minute. After a bit I looked at my Blackberry and realized one minute had become four, at which point I called in.

Now I just have to rearrange things with the people who're coming to install new servers at our Secaucus location. I was going to meet them there.

Okay, good. I'm inclined to believe it was probably the beef in the mac and cheese I got, because lunchtime was a grilled cheese sandwich. Unless someone at the office was a Norwalk carrier and the icemaker was contaminated I don't have a whole lot of other suspects- chocolate doesn't really carry most strains of food poisoning pathogens.

I would not be the one to say no to a box of Imodium and a few bottles of gatorade. The place is more of a pit than usual, fair warning.

If it's the nasty GI virus that went around a few years ago (which I think was Noro, but have no microbiological proof), expect a total of about 14 hours of... core-dump... followed by about a day of did-anyone-get-the-licence-plate-on-that-truck and a few days of your GI tract being unsure that input is actually a good idea (not expulsion, just a pervasive are-you-sure-you-want-to-put-that-in-here?)

Once you resume PO input, you know about the BRAT diet, right?

Hope it resolves itself quickly and your brain comes home.
