The problem with knitting in one-sided stockinette stitch is that it curls up, hiding part of the pattern. I figured out on my third attempt at including fair isle in a scarf that it's easier to make it on dpns.

Where does your icon come from? I can't get enough of Celtic knot patterns and am hoping I could find this one. Very pretty.

It's the Durrow cable. I knitted it for a blanket contest a few years ago.

Thanks! I like your version better. Why does it look cleaner than the website's pic? The corners of the knots fade in and out, but your's don't. It looks like your border is part of the knot. Can't really see all that much from the icon, though. Did you change it?

Hmmm. Not sure why mine turned out better; I was using a fairly cheap digital camera at the time. I used an acrylic yarn for this, since the company sponsoring the contest wanted us to make blankets from one of their acrylic lines. Maybe the wool in the website's pic is softer and fuzzier and has blurrier edges.

I knitted the cable on a purl background. The border is... mmh. I think it's a three-stitch popcorn stitch.

Hee. Thank you. Gordon's had enough high-caliber doom, gloom, and stuff of seriousness so far. I figured he's entiteld to a moment or two of poop humour, and it's hard to do better than Concerned where Half-Life is involved!
