Just had my performance review.
Aug. 21st, 2002 12:38 pmWent pretty well. Better than I expected, actually; I'd been nervous about this year as I was working under a different supervisor than before. We've shifted to a rating system imposed by National, where everything is rated on what amounts to a one-to-five scale; the center point is considered acceptable. I scored either Commendable (the center point) or Superior on everything, and my boss said she was seriously thinking of eding me up to Exceptional in the 'commitment to organization' area because of my dedication to Red Cross ideals and mission. (I think that translates to 'because I was willing to bust my ass on graveyard shifts for weeks on end after 9/11 and still do my regular work'.) I don't know when the salary changes will go through for the year; the fiscal year started on 1 July, so some of it will be retroactive. There'll be a minor cost-of-living increase and there may or may not be performance increases or bonuses this year. It's been a nasty time financially for the Chapter, so I wouldn't be too surprised if the bonus consisted of $25 worth of credit to buy logo clothing from Educational Services. I'll deal, though. I got a good report here, and three outstanding reports from Colorado and Texas (although I only have the reports from Texas, as I forgot to keep a copy for myself of the one in Colorado), and I know what I have to work on otherwise. That's the important part.
Now, it's New Comics Day. I'm waiting until 1 if I can and then going to Time Warp. Mmmmmaybe they'll have something in that I read these days - they're usually kind of slow about getting stuff on the shelves, compared to Dewey's, which has them up by 7 PM in my experience. I'm stopping at Taco Bell first as it's murder trying to get food on the way back. I think I'm entitled; besides, I need to make this my major meal, as I have karate practice tonight and won't be eating properly until afterwards. The fact that I was able to hold my forehead to my knee when we were sitting on the floor, legs apart, and stretching for our ankles is impressive to me; more so is the fact that I was able to do the Plough posture during our yoga session (20 min. before each karate class) and actually hold my toes on the floor above my head for 10-15 seconds at a time. (The major problem there seems to be breathing, as it's a slightly cramped posture.) I can't do any of that if I've got food in my stomach, so lunch should be filling.
