From BBC News Online: MMR doctor admits ethics failing

This is the guy who first said ‘hey, you know how there’s a combined vaccine that’ll protect your kids from measles, mumps, and German measles? IT MIGHT MAKE THEM AUTISTIC’. Apparently, he thought it was perfectly okay to take blood samples from kids at a birthday party in exchange for money and parental permission. And that it was okay for him to advise lawyers for parents who were looking to sue someone over possible damage to their kids without telling the Lancet, which is the journal where he made his accusations about the vaccine, that he was being paid by and working with the people who had a vested interest in the MMR vaccine being labeled as Bad.

Sir, if you’re going to make an accusation about an aspect of modern medicine, kindly do it the right way. Make sure your science is sound, and keep the politics out of it. Otherwise you’re only damaging your case- which wasn’t that great in the first place.

But now that I have gotten that out of my system, I fully intend to go get killed by that big blue robot for several hours tonight.

Sure! I have to work late tonight, as usual, but I should be out around 7 or 7:30. Dan's gonna be at home by 7 so she can entertain you until I get there, should I get held up.

We're having Mexican tonight (unless you object) and we just bought a new non-broken PS2 controller to replace the cracked out Batman one (It kind of feels like a bizarre sex-toy) so hopefully we can get your Gordon out of the trash compactor. ^_~.

Excellent. Also, if you're ever interested and you have two PS2 controllers on hand, there's always Half-Life: Decay- but I'd like to get Gord out of the trash compactor, yeah. (Watch. With my luck I'm going to have to start over from the end of the last level.)

If you do have to restart from the last save, at least now we know how to get out of the room.

And we do, in fact, have 2 PS2 controllers. ..is Decay the one with the two women? That could be fun.

Yeah. They're the people who took the other two suits that were in the room where Gordon gets his at the start of the game. Decay itself is supposed to be kind of irritating, but it does explain a chunk of plot questions like 'wtf was up with that satellite', so at some point after we get your Gargantua killed and my Gordon out of the trash compactor it'll probably be worth a shot.

(Memo to self: make sure to have Gordon demand "Why do we even HAVE a shark tank??" when I do his OOMs.)

I can testify that the first minute or two had me laughing so hard I had to pause it so I'd be able to breathe. The last time anything tickled my ribs like that, it was re-viewing (for transcription purposes) Yahtzee Goes to GDC and getting to the bit about how "[a]ll games are about realising a fantasy [...] in the case of some Japanese games, the fantasy of possessing eight prehensile d*cks." Only for completely different reasons.

I'll watch it when I get home and can turn up the sound.

And how. A friend of my bro-in-law is so rabidly anti-vaccination because of this "study" that he basicly accused me of being part of the "great medical conspiracy" when I blew a few holes in his arguments.
