After some frustration I found a web site that'd check my system specs against the recommendations and requirements for Portal- or rather, for everything in the Orange Box- and Aidan* (my home system) is more than capable of running any of the games in there. So I'll go with the PC version of the Orange Box games and hold off on buying a console until I see how the Ghostbusters video game is.

In the meantime, I'll get a normal dvd player. Thanks for the advice, though.


*Considering renaming him to Bumblebee owing to a frightening facility for producing exactly the right music at exactly the right time.
