No, they got the whole thing. I think they picked the lock. It was a cable lock wrapped in steel sheathing, like airplane cables; it would've been a pain in the ass to cut.

Manhattan. Frame number not registered yet but tomorrow I'm calling the manufacturers (I called them today but they were closed), getting the number, and taking it to the NYPD.

I'm working on trying to get to a compassionate response towards the thief. Right now the best I can do is a bland sort of 'you do realize that if they stole it and sold it for drug money, it will probably be its own punishment', which is only marginally better than wanting to rage.
