Squid whisks FTW!

Although when I saw them the first thing I thought was "dildo whisks", because it seems I'm *that* kinda gal... *snicker*

Also! Are you still on for knitting tonight?

Yay! Sherri's going to work late today, so she probably won't get there in time. Dunno, she might say screw it and come with us but there you go.

ALSO, just got knitpicks order so I have yarn to play with and NEW NEEDLES.

...that I loves. So much. *hugs them* And I wanted to try a simple hat.

Options?

In the prettypretty rainbow-stained wood?

Oooooo...

The harmonywood, yes. *LOVESES IT* It's just... it's nice to hold. It's right between the wooden needles I've worked with (bamboo) and the metal.

But I got a fixed set. The Options set has been put down as Christmas Present from the 'Rents.

Last year I did the Made of Garter Stitch everything and at this point I'm branching out to other things slowly and carefully. I made a knitpicks order of all different kinds of material to see how I like working with each one, a skein of bare to give dyeing a shot, and a few other odds and ends. But the Harmonywood is a keeper.

OMG so much. They're going to end up with their own ICON I likeses them so much.

Ah! Looks like it would be up there with the high-end wood, then, e.g. Crystal Palace. [livejournal.com profile] faeryl has some, and I am jealous--and it's quite the flavor of the month, it seems, as they're having trouble keeping stock on hand.

My favorite material is, I think, still bone--but Lacis's DPN sets are notoriously 4 (idiots!), and they don't do circs. I've seen bone circs, but they're only in worsted-and-up sizes.

That all said--I once came upon needles that I thought had to be horn (which can be quite plastic and can make pretty needles): they were a smokey glass color, with dark flecks throughout.

No!

They were casein--milk protein. That particular pattern apparently doesn't happen anymore, but the manufacturer has done into wood grain.

I didn't get to pet them, though--alas!

I'm not typically a fan of garter stitch; I'm trying to do this in the traditional Faroese style, though, and that's all garter, all the time. I will learn to like garter.

And besides--it's a nice cuddly yarn from ArtFibers (http://www.artfibers.com/), their Carezza (http://www.artfibers.com/yarn.php?yarnID=6161&page=1&sort=gauge1). NB, if you like the bargains, they also have a Rowan Kidsilk Haze wannabe called Tsuki--slightly less hairy, muchmuch cheaper.

You can get them in the UK at Octopus, along with various other BRIGHTLY COLOURED AND TECHNICALLY USELESS THINGS. I'm in there on a weekend fairly often, coveting random stuff.
