Oct. 10th, 2007 08:48 amSo yesterday
mephron and I went to Drew University to see these guys in concert. The universe decided that this would be a fun time to yell 'POO!' and call it funny, and responded with the following steps:
1. The train station in Madison was about half a mile farther from Drew University than I remembered it being.
2. The thunderstorms that weren't supposed to happen until today? Totally happened last night.
3. The power went out at Drew when we got there.
On the other hand, the building with the concert hall had emergency lighting, and the singers were quite used to performing without amplifiers anyway, so while we didn't get to see the computerized analysis of what happens when a single human throat produces two notes at once for the course of an entire song, we got a really neat concert. I'm going to buy some of their CDs come payday, I think.
(Side note: Drew University is a university that grew out of a seminary, at least in part, and most of its decor is in the style Dave Barry once referred to as Sort Of Colonial Or Something. On a night when the sky's opened up to dump itself all over you, and the oaks are only just starting to lose their leaves, and the skies are flashing with cloud-to-cloud lightning so high up that you don't hear the thunder, you start thinking 'if I could just squish the buildings together a little closer I bet I could use Drew's campus as a substitute for Miskatonic'. And by 'you' I mean 'me'.)

I swear, at some point I thought there was going to be a bit of nonEuclideanism in the paths, but that might have been the oxygen deprivation.
