I feel like roughly seven kinds of hammered hell today, I'm afraid. I had a post-nasal drip for a lot of yesterday, and the walk home from the train station to my apartment after returning the rental car was one of those walks where you recognise in your stride the fact that you are only moving forward because of willpower, not because your body wants you to. Within a few hours my eyes were giving me the usual 'hi, you're sick' signals, and I was feeling both too warm and too cold at the same time. I slept on the couch last night so that I would not have to navigate the stairs if I had to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

I'm at the office this morning, largely because I have things to accomplish and the office a/c is far better than that at home- the cooler I am right now, the less horrible I feel. If it gets too gross over the course of the day I'll go home early. I have to stop at Duane Reade and buy a thermometer or some tempa-dot strips, as I can't find my old one and I think it may have been broken anyway.

I'll be taking Buckley's later today to get the drip and the throat pain under control. If you hear a weird animalistic wailing issuing from midtown Manhattan, it's probably me reacting to that stuff. It works, but it tastes like PURE UNADULTERATED ASS.

Those of you who RP with me, this is your warning that if I RP at all today, it will be hopelessly slow. You have my sincerest apologies for that.

What kind of ass does Buckley's taste like? Robutussin cold and sinus tastes like red dye, grapes that have gone off a bit, cheap beer, and fire taco sauce from taco bell, combined.

Turpentine.

No, really. Most of the ingredients are the sort of thing you would see in paint stripper. Ammonium carbonate, camphor, Canada balsam, menthol, pine needle oil, tincture of capiscum... A couple of other things too, but they're water and thickeners. Oh, and the only alleviating flavour? Sodium saccharin. No sugar, no alcohol.

It tastes like How Mother Nature Says 'Do Not Put This In Your Mouth', honestly.

Yeah. It's awful, but it's probably the most effective cough syrup I've ever had, even in the face of last year's pneumonia. It operates on the principle of horrifying the body into submission, I think.
