On July 11, 1979, the abandoned United States space station Skylab made a spectacular return to Earth, burning up in the atmosphere and showering debris over the Indian Ocean and Australia.
Yup, I remember that. Some people at school wore their bike helmets all day, which wouldn't have done them much good if it had chosen to hit us. In the end it crashed into a farm in WA, not even injuring the cows.
