Wellp, I'm going to Millicon from 19 July through 22 July, and taking 23 July off. It's worth noting in the meantime that I don't plan on buying Harry Potter while I'm there, and that I don't drink, but am generally up for other forms of entertainment while people storm the Borders and read everything in sight.

I will possibly also have a lot of canon on videotape and/or DVD.

Anyone interested in hanging out doing other things on the night of Potterammerung?

Possibly to probably. As more and more people inform me that they're leaning away from Potterness, I'm up for doing almost anything.

Put me down as a tentative yes. I'm so meh on getting the book right away. When would I read it?!

I don't think I'm doing Potter. I'll have the book waiting for me when I come home, and I don't want to sit and read at a social function, nor deal with crowds at a bookstore.

Yeah, I'm being snobbish and getting the Canadian version, which retains the proper spellings and doesn't Americanize the jokes. Am also looking for plans that don't involve sitting around and watching TV because frankly I can (and do) do that at home.

*holds a hand up* I don't know what I'll be doing that night, but Pottermania isn't it.

As I said to Emmy, yep, I certainly am.

I'm not getting the book right away, and the only appeal to the Potterammerung (which is a fabulous word) for me is in hanging out with people in the stages before they get their books and dive into canon glee. And even that I am not sold on, as a) it seemed at first to involve long lines in a very crowded bookstore, and b) it now seems to involve short lines in a very crowded bookstore. So. Alternate party, yes let's!
