Jul. 6th, 2007 09:00 amI am, as they say, awake. What more anyone might want from me righ tnow I do not know, but they are not likely to get it.
I was up until around 3:47 last night- at least, that was the time on my cell phone when I last heard from the people who were dealing with our server closet's temperature, and shortly thereafter I received two emails on my BlackBerry re: "YAY TEMPERATURE YAY" but did not check the time on those. My boss emailed me this morning after reading over the logs of what I did last night and asked me if I was taking the day off, because I'd had a long sleepless night last night and should take the day off; alas, this message came in when I was getting off the PATH train to get into the office. I've brought our downed servers back up and pointed the replication software back at the places it's supposed to go. I've confirmed the presence of a network hub with spare ports at a location where we'll soon have to put temporary new people. I'm going to go remove one of our other servers from the old backup software so that that account can be retired. And then I think I shall ask for permission to go home at lunchtime, because I am terrified that if I ask to go home now, I'll get a phone call when I'm halfway to sleep and I will have to go all the way back into New York to commit my acts of bloody mayhem. And I just don't want to have to get the MetroCard out twice.
On other, less gory notes:
- Alchemy + Cybermen = teh win, at least if you are postulating a non-Mondas, non-Cybus Industries origin for the bastards
- if my computer is in fact an Autobot using the psiTunes phenomenon to attempt to communicate, then he is more than welcome to notify me about any desired name changes; for now he is just going to have to settle for "Aidan"
- I had more here but go back to the part about phone calls at 3:47 AM
- Phbleah. PHBLEAH, I say.
