I have two bottles of Manhattan Special Coffee Soda. It is carbonated espresso with enough sugar to make it taste good.

I wonder if I can get either of them to the con?

I beg to differ. I tried this about 2 years ago, because it sounded as if it ought to be good. I thought it was vile. I didn't even finish the bottle - I poured it down the drain. But, as they say, Chuck's son's got the gout, or something like that.

I've been drinking it since I was six years old, so I suppose that's part of the fondness I have for it- long experience. I can also note that for some time, the 'diet' version of Manhattan Special was sweetened with saccharin, and the one time I bought a bottle of that by mistake it was possibly the nastiest beverage experience I have ever had.

Ah, that may be it, then. I don't recall whether the version I had was diet or not, but it may well have been. I'll have to try the non-diet version and see.

I've just been to their site and nabbed their PDF brochures for sharing with relatives...and sent up a flare to their store locator, on the (extremely) off-chance they have an outpost in Georgia?^^

Look for anywhere that sells Italian foods to actual Italians. That's where you're most likely to find it.

One way or another I'll figure it out. I'm going to look for Italian specialty stores in the vicinity of the hotel- it's just possible that we might be able to buy it there. I know I used to be able to get it in Fort Lauderdale even though it's bottled in Brooklyn (I've ridden past the factory, though I've never been inside).

... okay, see, I don't drink alcohol, but I can appreciate that other people do, and how seriously they take their alcohol. I'm aware of the fact that the oldest consumer protection law still on the books in the Western world is the German beer purity law, and I can genuinely appreciate that, because I understand from cooking just how impressive a simple product made from simple ingredients can really be. Thus, when I see 'beer that's flavoured like coffee', this is what springs to mind:
