Apr. 28th, 2007 07:13 pmBike ride today: home, to Bayonne, to Staten Island, then back again. I had half thought to ride from the Bayonne Bridge to the Ferry, but when I got across the bridge I realized I had no clue how to get to the ferry, so I went back the way I came. I had to walk across much of the bridge's span- not because it was giving me trouble incline-wise, but because the winds from the direction of Newark were terrifying to someone who has a vivid enough imagination. The pedestrian walkway on the Bayonne Bridge is separated from the car lanes, and the only thing that separates the bicyclist or pedestrian from a drop straight down to the Newark Bay is a fence a little more than waist high. And parts of the bridge's under-structure, but mostly it's just that fence. Didn't wanna take chances with that.
Total distance, including side trip to supermarket at the end: 20.81 miles. Hopefully I can get in more distance this week.
