I don't think I'm ever going to say something tastes like ass again, because I've just found out exactly what ass tastes like, and its name is Buckley's Mixture.

My upper respiratory tract is too horrified to remember that it's supposed to be coughing, I think. Yeebus.

If it continues to work, it'll be worth it. I"m still having a few coughs, but nothing like the HORK HORK HORK GEEV US JOOR LOONGS NOW WOOMAN coughing fits I was having earlier.

This does not change the fact that I basically swallowed a liquid mothball if the ingredients list is right, but I'd rather swallow the mothball than do the HORK HORK thing.

A couple of years ago I ran across some melty cough-supressant strips, which worked wonderfully, but tasted rather like something scraped off the floor of a commercial garage and flavored with eucalyptus and camphor.
The coughing stopped enough for me to gag.

They have them in Duane Reade. I saw them when I was looking through the cough syrup section about three seconds before I spotted the Buckley's Mixture.

It's the WORST STUFF EVER for taste, but there is NOTHING like it for effectiveness, based on reputation.

Hold it in your mouth for a couple of seconds, and plug your ears when you go to swallow. It tastes less ass-y and more like eating a pine-scented air freshener that way, plus it doesn't burn quite as much.

Or maybe I'm just used to it, I've been taking it for cold/flu symptoms since I was really little. Also? Screw measuring out doses, just carry a small bottle around with you and take a small sip about once every hour. It works out to about the same, plus you'll be topped up on piney goodness that way.

Wow. That's the most disgustingly perfectly mixed stuff I have ever heard of. They really pulled out all the stops on that one. Does it make me a horrid person that I now want to try some even though I have no cough?

You could probably get the same effect by dissolving a moth ball in water. I took my two teaspoons of the stuff and swallowed. In about 0.75 seconds my tongue and upper respiratory tract started screaming WHY GOD WHYYYYYY.
