Whooping Cough has been making a comeback for the last five years. The thing is, you can sometimes get it even if you've had the whole series as a kid. It's a milder, sub-acute case, but it's becoming standard to test a patient for pertussis when they come in with a chronic cough that simply WON'T go away.
Mmm, dextromethorphan. You still have the coughing fits, but you're not in your body and don't care anymore. (This is what happens to me, anyway. I'm pretty sure it's idiosyncratic.)
