There's something about the part in the first movie where the cops show up with Louis Tully as if it were the most natural thing in the world to consult the Ghostbusters that makes me think New York would be a city very much inclined to practicality with regards to the supernatural. Stack enough really big supernatural incidents end to end in one place, and the city's going to have to start taking them into account at budget time. "Okay, how is this going to affect our bid for the next Olympic games?" is just the start of it.
