Sep. 16th, 2006 07:53 pmToday's ride, a very minor one but still an act of preparation for the MS Society Century.
Leg 1: Home to Exchange Place. 0.72 miles.
Leg 2: WTC PATH over to South Street, up the greenway, then back into the streets and up onto the Williamsburg Bridge pedestrian approach: 2.18 miles.
Leg 3: Wmsburg Bridge to end of bike path, then over to S 4th Street and down Bedford Ave to the Yarn Tree store for purchase of rovings and niddy-noddy: 1.53 miles.
Leg 4: Yarn Tree store to Berry Street, over to S 1st Street, back to Yarn Tree for forgotten water bottle: 0.47 mi
Leg 5: Yarn Tree store down Berry St, down to where it turns into Nassau Ave, down Van Dam st to Bridgewater, briefly up until I realise I'm looking at the BQE and not anything that any bicyclist could use to cross into Queens, damn my luck: 2.11 mi
Leg 6: Back down Bridgewater, up onto Nassau via Dobbin, up the bike lane (yes, it goes against automotive traffic, but it's still the bike lane), over to S 5th St and up to the pedestrian access to the Wmsburg Bridge at Roebling St: 2.45 mi
Leg 7: Over the bridge, onto the greenway, down to the South Street Seaport area (I think- I know I passed the seaport but I don't remember what the cross street is) where I had to stop and dismount for a while due to guy doing really killer yoga demonstration in tune to "Bad" by Michael Jackson: 2.53 mi
Leg 8: From the Seaport down to the South Ferry terminal and up West St, then up to Greenwich St via Albany, then up Thames St (which I believe is where I was stationed on 9/12/01; either that or the next block over, Cedar St) to Church St and thence to the WTC PATH: 1.75 mi
Leg 9: Home from Exchange Place. 0.72 miles.
0.72 + 2.18 + 1.53 + 0.47 + 2.11 + 2.45 + 2.53 + 1.75 + 0.72: 14.46 mi. Not much, but I got done what I wanted to get done. Except for wanting to get to the Triboro, but I didn't have my bike map with me and so did not know how to get my butt to Queens from Brooklyn without involving the subway. Next time.
