I'm awake and at work and talking to people, dammit. What more does the world want from me? (Translation: I had to get up early so I could be here at 7 AM to let the electricians in to finish work on our server closet's power redundancy solution. And to test our UPSes. I'm a night owl, dammit. Early morning hours exist to go fishing in, and possibly to prep for very elaborate pranks.)

That being said, here's a song I think a lot of people can appreciate lately.

Consequence Free
Great Big Sea

Wouldn't it be great, if no one ever got offended?
Wouldn't it be great to say what's really on your mind?
I have always said 'all the rules are made for bending'
And if I let my hair down, would that be such a crime?

I wanna be consequence free
I wanna be where nothing needs to matter
I wanna be consequence free
just sing Na Na Na Na Na Ne Na Na Na

I could really use, to lose my Catholic conscience
Cuz I'm getting sick of feeling guilty all the time
I won't abuse it, Yeah I've got the best intentions
For a little bit of anarchy but not the hurting kind

I wanna be consequence free
I wanna be where nothing needs to matter
I wanna be consequence free
just sing Na Na Na Na Na Ne Na Na Na

I couldn't sleep at all last night
cause I had so much on my mind
I'd like to leave it all behind,
but you know it's not that easy

I wanna be consequence free
I wanna be where nothing needs to matter
I wanna be consequence free
just sing Na Na Na Na Na Ne Na Na Na

Wouldn't it be great, if the band just never ended
We could stay out late and we would never hear last call
We wouldn't need to worry about approval or permission,
we could - slip off the edge and never worry about the fall

I wanna be consequence free
I wanna be where nothing needs to matter
I wanna be consequence free
just sing Na Na Na Na Na Ne Na Na Na...

It does. And yet the words are actually clearer and more comprehensible.

Oh yes! I saw them the last show of a tour once, and they sang "It's the End of the Tour as we Know It" :) Great fun.

Early mornings also exist so that we can begin to contemplate going to bed. The sunrise is a beautiful way to end the day...

I'm recently up as well, though I can only plead insomnia.

Exactly.

My sympathies for your loss (of sleep).

Love that song, too. Of course, when Mom heard it, she went off onto a tirade about how consequences are necessary for free will to be anything meaningful. Geeze, Mom! *facepalms*

Hope this day goes easier for you.

I think it's wistful irony more than, you know, actual sarcasm.
