Anybody know, or know where I can find out, how far south the pack ice comes during wintertime in the Arctic Ocean? I didn't take notes during the PBS special on Why Victorian Explorers Killed A Whole Bunch Of Englishmen Years Before Scott Wound Up Doing The Same Thing.

If this is for your Due North/Reign of Fire crossover fic, you'll want to think about climate change.

The behavior of the arctic pack ice is changing a lot lately, with global warming and all. (I.e., the Northwest Passage is now navigable in the summertime.)

If this fic is taking place twenty years after the Collapse of Civilization (and the resuling drop in global carbon dioxide emissions), the pack ice will be behaving a lot more like it did historically than it has been recently...

Yeah, I was thinking of that. Especially since during one of the montage monologues Quinn makes a comment to the effect of their aftermath bringing on ice ages. I figure that the first few years, the pack ice would behave like it does in our world; after that, well, the Franklin Expedition had three years of "What do you MEAN it isn't melting???", so...
