Feb. 28th, 2006 12:29 pmI have something of a cold- I started feeling the symptoms yesterday. Burny eyes, stuffy head, post nasal drip, sore throat. Normally I would wait until this got to the point of SUPREME AWFULNESS before doing anything about it work-wise, but it would appear I have also begun Running a Pint Low (aka Shark Week). And this week, despite the consumption of extra-strength ibuprofen twice yesterday, it is not letting go of my back.
I called in sick to work this morning and slept as late as I could in the hopes that one or the other of the physical issues would turn out to be a bad dream. Neither one did. This peeves me.
I'll manage. I did my karate class yesterday despite both, but I suspect that may have been why they got worse as the night went on and hit me as hard as they did this morning is because the virus and the prostaglandins colluded on revenge.
*mutter*
Understand, I am a feminist, and I am the sort of person who will go to karate class despite nearly incapacitating lower-back and lower-abdomen cramps on the grounds that being female is no excuse for weakness (and anyway, a woman in my isshin kenpo classes attended and participated in class up to month 7.5 of pregnancy). But I have no desire to give my office mates anything contagious, and as for the other thing, well, that's just making the urge to camp out near the restroom about twenty times stronger, let's leave it at that.

Date: 2006-02-28 05:45 pm (UTC)However, your second point just goes to reinforce my strongly-held belief that exercise is bad for you. My back and thighs are killing me due to carrying a hell of a lot of weight downstairs on Sunday afternoon, and this is not improving matters with the other issue either. Exercise makes everything worse.

Date: 2006-02-28 05:55 pm (UTC)My immediate reaction to any sort of exercise is "am I getting paid for this," and if I am also feeling as if happy fun demons are inhabiting my girly regions and having a party which involves jabbing my abdominal wall with barbed iron spikes, I am even less inclined to go through with it.
The feminist movement at my college hated me.
