Meandering onna sick day.
Jan. 5th, 2006 01:17 pmI've got some kind of a cold or something and called in sick this morning. My throat's been horrible and I've felt feverish for the past two days, so I figured when I woke up this morning that I should take a day to beat this thing, whatever it is, into the ground. My cat Tiki crawled under the covers and slept next to me for a while this morning (I think I was in bed until 12:30). I thought this was very sweet of him, since normally he stays on the roof of his cat carrier (near my head, but still a different object), or possibly on my ankles through the bedspread.
This is how I know I am not my mother. My mom and I were talking about the cats the other day and Mom mentioned how my sister's husband had said the cats occasionally tried to get into bed with him. "I just don't understand it," she'd said, "how someone could be willing to share their bed with an animal."
It was the same voice as the one she'd used when she said she didn't understand why, if I had to be reincarnated, I wouldn't mind being reincarnated as a humpback whale. I don't think she'll ever entirely understand, and I kind of wish she could... ah, well.
(Mind you, when I read the book Starship Troopers, I was pretty sure after some consideration that if I got placed in anything other than an HQ or naval position, it would be the K9 Corps.)

Yes. I have reached the point where I can use the word "only" in that sentence, and say it with a straight face.
