Last night was my first Halloween night in my own apartment. No kids came to the door. Maybe they did before I got home for the evening- I arrived around 6:30, and it's dark in Jersey City at night, so parents aren't so much on the door-to-door. Besides, I'm in an apartment building. I suspect only the kids who live there went around there.

*sigh*

Oh well. I keep all my chocolate.

I did get a full building fire alarm last night around ten thirtyish. Took me a while to realize what the sound was. I didn't smell or see anything when I checked the hallway, so I put on a jacket and shoes, grabbed my keys and cell phone, and headed outside to wait. If I thought there was an actual fire I would've grabbed the cats, but this had all the earmarks of Some Nimrod Forgot To Take The Pop Tarts Out Of The Toaster.

Turned out it was either Some Nimrod Tripped The Alarm For Fun or Well, Damn, I Guess Fire Alarm Systems Have Malfunctions Too.

That having been said, I think tonight I'm gonna get my butt down to the Strand. Never been there. Wanna see what they've got, even if I can't get there on my bike.

... huh. I just noticed the little 'Insert' dropdown hoodah now. That's funky. *points to upper right hand portion of the update window* Might have to try that once I have summat worth inserting.

Was my first Halloween in my own apartment too. I didn't get any kids either, but then again I didn't get home until 8 so I refused to open the door anyway.

Or it was a Halloween trick. Around here people often use Halloween as an excuse to commit some mayhem.

Back in my apartment days, we lived in a 7-unit building so not that big, I looked out the front window one night to see a fire truck pulling up. I was pretty dismayed when they came to our building. Evidently we had a fire in the basement and I knew nothing as the smoke alarms were out, as usual.

I think pranksters are far superior to some of the alternatives.

Good to know the fire alarm system works, at any rate. :)

Totally thought of you yesterday, because I was watching VH1 Classics and they were doing "I Love the 80's" and they played the Ghostbusters theme video. And it was good. :)

Did you decorate your door?

On halloween I've always wanted to do a riff on the orignal all hallows eve theme by carving crucifixes into all my Jack o'lanterns and putting them up to confuse people.

Also, I'm not sure if you've mentioned this on your lj, but have you seen Nightwatch (2004)?

It's pretty much like Russian ghostbusters with great story and visual effects and nice pop culture references. Another good thing is that both the Light and the Dark are fully realised as characters.
