Aleksei was a Silver Fang theurge with visible scars of smallpox, a fetish spike in his chest that'd release a fire elemental on his death to ensure that he wasn't carrying the virus and couldn't infect anyone as a corpse, and had an Insane Past Life who was prone to fits of guilt over having failed to protect his lab worker from the smallpox sample that infected HER, doesn't mean his advice was automatically disturbing!
