camwynGot to hotel. Red Cross person in front of me approaches counter.
No rooms.
Seems Staffing had been faxing 'we're sending x, we're sending y' messages to the hotel without confirmation of the rate, and the hotel has no rooms available, and neither did any other hotel in the frickin' Houston metropolitan area. We tried. We called other hotels. A lovely lovely man named Ian helped with that. He even tried to get the hotel to let us take one of his group's rooms and have his people double up in another, but the hotel said no. IN the end the hotel gave us a Hospitality Suite (table for six, Murphy bed for two, rollaway bed brought in from outside) for $250 for the night. We'll split that three ways among those of us who were in the same car from Houston. At least there is a mattress.
Wanna go home. Tomorrow is a good thing.
