Things of note today:

Got a letter from Chadwick's of Boston saying 'your order was received but could not be processed per the Mastercard bankcard company, please contact them regarding the reason'. I never placed any such order. Particularly not given that the order in question involves a dress, two pairs of size 8 boots, a skirt, a jumper, and another dress- and both the skirt and the dress were size 16. My feet are bigger than size 8 and the rest of me is smaller than size 16. I think I shall call Mastercard soon.

ETA: This does not appear on either of my two Mastercards. A quick inquiry at Equifax reveals that none of the three major credit bureaus shows any new Mastercards or other credit forms in my name, and the last credit inquiry before this was in January, when I was trying to get this apartment. So... Chadwick's probably entered someone else's order under my name by mistake, but still, am trying to contact them too.

Went to the beach today. Long Branch is lovely at this time of year and I got sand in places that don't normally get sand, plus I got to lie on a towel in the sun and not worry about much of anything for a while, which is nice. I read a beading magazine and some of The Lord of the Rings. Yes, that is what I consider beach reading.

And when I got off the PATH train to come home I found I had a voice mail from the Red Cross saying that they needed to know my DSHR availability for a 2-to-3 week assignment and that if I accepted I would be on a plane within 24 hours...

ARGH!

Not that I don't want to help- I do- but I have no way of contacting the office and asking about the possibility of taking my vacation Very Very Soon Indeed! Except possibly by email. And after that I'd have to arrange cat care, but...

Hmm. Anyone think they could help with the cats, if I can get that time off?

And Long Branch gives me the wiggins, because there used to be commercials for the Haunted Mansion at Long Branch which actually scared the beejeebers out of me.

I lived in Long Branch for 4 yrs- Went to Monmouth College ( as it was- now Monmouth University ) I was there when the pier burned down. Nothing like a good fire to bring out the people!. I understand that I wouldn't recongize the place now.

Oh, honey, don't even worry about it. The Paypal, I mean- it'll be neat to see Rikku if she turns up there, although the Ray Stantz I play there is nowt to do with the one in our old RP.

And I figured as much, about Milli!Ray being separate from RunningAroundInSpira!Ray. I've been lurking at Milliways for a bit now, and was torn between applying for Rikku or Kryten. How long did it take for your app to be approved? Just out of curiosity.

Quite sure. If you insist on putting that money somewhere, send it to the Red Cross and tell them it's for the Disaster Relief Fund in general- looks like they're in for a bad year. Otherwise, you hang onto it and don't worry about it further.

As for the app... gnh. I don't remember. I had one app take two weeks or so. They do it in batches, not on a day by day basis.

One request. Don't say 'New Orleans'. Say 'Disaster Relief Fund'. NOLA may be the biggest thing in the news right now, but Florida's hurting too, and there are fires elsewhere in the country. Giving to the Disaster Relief Fund means they're allowed to put those dollars wherever they're most needed.
